Grand Tourmalet Resort
Grand Tourmalet is built around two resorts with complementary identities.
Barèges, an authentic Pyrenean village located at around 1,250 meters in altitude, stands out for its mountain atmosphere, traditional character, and more sporty skiing. La Mongie, a high-altitude resort set at around 1,800 meters, offers direct access to the heart of the ski area with wide open spaces and a layout designed for skiing.
Together, Barèges and La Mongie allow visitors to experience Grand Tourmalet from two perspectives: the authenticity of a mountain village and the efficiency of a large high-altitude resort.
Resort Information
The Ski Area
The Grand Tourmalet ski area stretches from around 1,400 meters to 2,500 meters in altitude, offering a significant vertical drop and generally reliable snow conditions throughout the season.
With nearly 110 km of slopes, the area provides a wide variety of terrain:
wide and accessible runs in the higher sectors
more technical and challenging slopes on the Barèges side
panoramic routes facing the Pic du Midi
areas suitable for both beginners and advanced skiers
The ski-in/ski-out connection between Barèges and La Mongie allows you to fully enjoy the entire area and vary the atmosphere throughout your runs.
Why choose Grand Tourmalet?
Grand Tourmalet combines two complementary atmospheres:
an authentic mountain village feel in Barèges
a more dynamic, ski-focused environment in La Mongie
Restaurants, terraces, Pyrenean specialties, and non-ski activities shape the stay, all set in a landscape dominated by the iconic peaks of the Hautes-Pyrénées.
