You had ordered blue skies for your ski weekend or annual holiday, and bad luck: it’s a storm! Whether you no longer feel like skiing or simply can’t ski (ski area fully or partly closed), let’s go through every possible case and the right reflexes to get a refund on the ski pass you bought from Passe Montagne.
Three things to know about refunds
1
Cancellable until 11:59 pm the day before
You can always cancel and get a refund on a ski pass bought from Passe Montagne until 11:59 pm the day before your first day of skiing, except at Valmeinier (no cancellation or refund possible).
2
Ski area closed: the resort’s terms apply
If the ski area is fully or partly closed, each resort’s terms and conditions apply to refunds (they differ from one resort to another in your Passe Montagne subscription). So if the forecast looks bad, see point 1 😉
3
Already there? We’ll help
Couldn’t cancel your pass in time? Contact us if the ski area is fully or partly closed: we’ll send you a claim form, forward your file to the resort’s lift company, then get back to you (at this stage, Passe Montagne’s terms no longer apply).
💡 Our tip when the forecast looks grim
If the weather looks bad a few days before your holiday, stay alert and cancel your pass before you arrive at the resort. You can always buy a last-minute day pass if the forecast turns out to be much gloomier than reality.
Even better, especially if your dates are flexible: always buy your pass at the last moment (same price as two months ahead). It saves you the digital paperwork.
1/ I’m on a ski holiday and the weather is terrible right now, it’s a storm. Can I cancel my pass and get a refund?
It depends: has your pass’s validity period already started? In other words, are you already on day 1, 2, 3, etc. of your pass? If so, unfortunately you can no longer cancel or get a refund from Passe Montagne (even if it’s 8 am and the lifts open at 8:30).
Passes bought from Passe Montagne can be cancelled and refunded until 11:59 pm the day before your first day of skiing (the time of your email counts if you didn’t call us during our customer service hours).
As long as the lifts are running…
… you’ll have to make the most of your pass. Choose tree-lined runs for better visibility, and take as many hot chocolate breaks as you like! The sun will come back eventually… right?
(If the answer is “no” and things get worse, see the next two questions.)
2/ I’m on a ski holiday and the ski area was closed for most of the day because of the weather. How do I get a refund on my pass?
If the ski area is fully or partly closed, the terms and conditions of the resort affected by strong winds or avalanche risk apply.
Passe Montagne acts as the go-between
To save you time and endless online searching, we send you the right claim form on request. Contact our customer service by email or phone: we then forward your request to the resort and get back to you as soon as we have its answer (allow 15 days to 1 month, depending on the resort).
However, we can’t promise your request will succeed… It all depends on how long and how badly the ski area was inaccessible. Lift companies also protect themselves quite well against bad weather…
3/ The resort closed for one or more days during my ski holiday because of wind or avalanche risk. How do I get a refund on my pass?
100% closed? Not a single lift open? Bad luck… and a real stroke of luck at the same time! It’s much harder to get a refund when the ski area is partly closed than when it’s fully closed.
Since your pass’s validity period had already started when you realised you couldn’t board the chairlifts, the lift company’s terms and conditions apply, not Passe Montagne’s.
Don’t worry: we won’t leave you on your own!
Email us at info@passemontagne.fr: we’ll send you the right claim form, forward your request to the resort, then get back to you as soon as we have its answer (15 days to 1 month, depending on the resort). That’s how we roll at Passe Montagne!
4/ I’m leaving for a ski holiday in a few days and the forecast looks bad. Can I cancel my pass and get a refund?
YES! You can cancel and get a refund on a ski pass bought from Passe Montagne until 11:59 pm the day before your first day of skiing (except at Valmeinier: no cancellation and no refund possible).
📞 How to cancel?
Contact us by phone on +33 4 56 64 99 77 (Monday to Friday, 9 am to 12:30 pm and 1:30 pm to 5 pm) or by email at info@passemontagne.fr (the time of your email counts), and we’ll take care of everything!
5/ I bought a ski pass for this weekend, but a snowstorm is forecast. How do I cancel my pass and get a refund?
Perfect, you’re in time to cancel and get a refund! Except at Valmeinier, all ski passes bought from Passe Montagne can be cancelled and refunded until 11:59 pm the day before your first day of skiing. Just contact our customer service by email or phone to get your request processed.
💡 Tip: join the “last-minute” team
To avoid time-consuming and stressful steps, buy your ski pass at the last minute next time you plan a weekend at a resort (especially if you’re on team “sunshine or I’m staying under the duvet”).
The price is the same whether you buy it two months ahead or five minutes before boarding the chairlift. Give yourself plenty of room to procrastinate with peace of mind!
