The best red runs of Les 2 Alpes: the Diable sector

Wondering where to find the best red runs at Les 2 Alpes? Then no doubt you’ll have to put your skis to the test in the Diable sector at 2,400 m. The red and black pistes, popular with strong skiers, offer a demanding challenge and a real sense of speed.

Technical skiing in a quieter part of the resort: the Vallée Blanche

If, in your view, great skiing should mean peace and quiet, then the Vallée Blanche at 2,100 m is a sector you should love. The Vallée Blanche isn’t recommended for beginners, but it will delight experienced skiers looking for thrills in a stunning setting.

Les 2 Alpes with the family

A family ski route

If you’re looking for an area with easy runs, well suited to beginners or to skiing with children, then go for the Crêtes sector. The blue runs in this sector are easy to access, with plenty of ski lifts going there. A covered magic carpet has even been installed so beginner skiers can stay sheltered.

The ice cave and the Belvédère des Écrins

At Les 2 Alpes, it’s worth knowing that the easiest runs are at the top of the ski area, in what’s known as the glacier zone. That’s a fairly unusual setup for a ski area. As a bonus, skiing in the glacier sector can be a chance to discover with your kids:

  • the ice cave, famous for its sculptures — dinosaurs, sea creatures and more — carved into the ice;

  • the Belvédère des Écrins, this walkway into the void at 3,400 m offering a 360° panorama over the surrounding mountains.

To get there, simply hop on the funicular built under the ice. Be careful, however, once you’re at altitude: at 3,600 m the air is thinner and intense effort becomes harder. If you feel the need, drop down a bit in altitude to regain your full capacities.
